Of course, we have been away in Devon at the Manor House Hotel this week, hence the lack of blog posts etc.
sorry not sorry. We’ve had a really lovely week and although it wasn’t quite the answer to all our problems that I was hoping for (the kids still argued and they still woke me up far too early in the morning), it was most definitely the break away we all needed and I felt an awful lot happier and more contented (but unfortunately still just as squashed) sitting in the back middle seat of that car on the way home, than I did on the way there.
There were lots of lovely things to be happy about this week, but it’s just a short happy list today because I’m going to write up our holiday in a full review post soon and I will include most of it in that.
- Ernie had his first experience of a swimming pool while we were on holiday this week. It was lovely to be able to have that special moment together as a family. The pool wasn’t very busy at all, there were only a few other children in there so it was nice and calm for his first swim. Well, I say swim, I mostly just held him close to me while I bobbed around in the water. He loved it though. We spared him the dunking that we gave poor Mabel when we took her for her first swim…… it seemed like a good idea at the time.
- Mabel made a few little friends on this holiday. As it was still term time, there weren’t many children there, which was great because the ones that were there got to know each other and had the run of the play areas and pools. I love seeing Mabel’s confidence grow with other children, she’s very sociable but also can be a little bit shy, so she does better in smaller groups and she was so happy and proud to announce ‘I’ve made lots of friends Mummy and Daddy’. This holiday was the first time when she’s been trying to ditch us at every opportunity and run off with her new friends whenever possible. It makes me realise my baby is growing up and although it’s bittersweet, I do feel proud of her independence.
- After a little break from writing the blog, I’m brimming with ideas for new posts and can’t wait to get started writing them. As much as blogging is a new found love and I’ve really thrown myself into it, a little enforced break was really good for me. There are so many things I want to write about, it’s hard to know where to start, but a head full of ideas and possibilities is a great feeling!
- We came home yesterday, and headed straight to Carl’s parents’ house for a Good Friday family celebration and an Easter Egg hunt. As usual, the girls had a lot of fun playing with their cousins, although they were a bit tired from their week of non stop fun and the 4 hour drive home. Ernie had loads of cuddles and showed everybody how he now tries to sit up on his own. He’s only three and a half months old, I swear this boy is freakishly strong!
