Mabel has been a bit poorly this week. She was ok on Monday, so we went to ballet as usual. But by the time she got up on Tuesday morning she obviously wasn’t right, so she had a day off of pre-school.
On Thursday she woke up full of beans so we let her go in, but by lunchtime they were ringing me to say she wasn’t herself and had been crying for me. Is there anything more heartbreaking than the idea of your child crying for you when you’re not there?
As soon as I got the phone call I made a dash for preschool, luckily it’s only up the road. Greta was still in her PJs so I just threw a coat on over the top and chucked her in the buggy and we went as we were. Anyone would think she’d had some kind of major accident the way I darted up the road. I’m sure the neighbours just thought ‘there goes that crazy lady with her rainbow buggy and a baby strapped to her chest again. Why is she looking so panicked today?’.
I felt so guilty that when I got her home I downloaded Snow White from the sky store for her to watch (£12.99 are you serious?!). She watched about 20 minutes of it before she decided that dressing up like a princess herself and bossing Greta (all seven of the dwarfs) around was a much better game….. Not that poorly then!
But apart from that we’ve had a lovely week, and here are the best bits
- I popped into Aldi after Mabel’s ballet class to pick up some lunch and some more cheap and beautiful flowers (seriously £2! So much prettiness in exchange for only £2!) And when I was in there I saw this stand mixer on special buy. I’d seen a preview of it on another blog and it looked good so I decided to get it. Only £35! Luckily my sister was with us and kindly carried it home for me, otherwise I would have had to balance it on top of the buggy (leaving it behind was not an option). I’m excited to make lots of cakes without my hand going all shaky from holding the electric whisk. I really want to try to make my first meringue too. I will report back on how successful or not that is.
- My mother’s day post was kindly featured by Aby in her March Newbie Round-up for Brit Mums. I’m really chuffed to be featured alongside so many brilliant bloggers. It’s nice to know I’m not writing complete rubbish. I may have done a little dance when I found out. Sad but true. You should definitely go and have a read of the other fabulous posts featured, you might find a new favourite blog to follow!
- On Friday the sun came out! And even better than that, Carl had booked the afternoon off work. So I had already decided before he came home that we would head out for the afternoon, we are so lucky to live so close to the beach. We had a lovely time out in the fresh air and took some photos in the late afternoon sun (more in our Living Arrows post on Monday).
- We have a busy weekend ahead seeing lots of family and friends that I haven’t seen for a long time. I’m looking forward to introducing Ernie to some friends who haven’t met him yet. They are going to have a shock if they are expecting a tiny newborn!
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
